Alyson Stoner opens up about child stardom and hidden struggles in their new memoir, out August 12 with a tour to follow.

Alyson Stoner, known for their childhood roles in Camp Rock, Cheaper by the Dozen, and Missy Elliott’s Work It video, is sharing their story in a new memoir, Semi-Well-Adjusted Despite Literally Everything, out August 12. The book dives into Stoner’s life growing up in the spotlight and the personal struggles they faced behind the scenes—including mental health challenges and an eating disorder.

In an early excerpt published by Vanity Fair, Stoner opens up about preparing to audition for the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. They describe pushing their body through intense training while secretly battling an eating disorder, saying the experience left a lasting impact even though the role went to Jennifer Lawrence.

Now 31, Stoner says the memoir aims to spark bigger conversations about the pressures of Hollywood. To mark the release, they’ll be doing a five-city book tour and hosting a virtual event for fans.
