Aaron Pierre on Supporting Teyana Taylor’s Vision in 'Escape Room'

Aaron Pierre says his role in Teyana Taylor’s ‘Escape Room’ was about serving her vision, artistry, and creativity.
Aaron Pierre is showing how much he values
Teyana Taylor’s artistry. At a private screening of Taylor’s visual album Escape Room, he joined Taylor,
Jodie Turner-Smith, and co-creator Coco Gilbert for a Q&A led by
Lena Waithe.
Speaking about his role in the project, Pierre said, “For me, in regards to this particular project, it was always about serving Teyana. Serving her vision, serving her visionary spirits, her artistry, and her creativity.” He added, “Teyana is really one of one.”
Taylor also spoke about their relationship in an interview with Complex, using a metaphor to describe how Pierre supports her. “I feel like you gotta handle me like a cup of tea,” she said. “A cup of tea, you walk slower, you’re more calm, you’re more delicate.” She explained that his gentleness allows her to “feel warm and to feel safe, and not be in survival mode.”
