Originally from Albania, Ema Savahl’s path to fashion design was an unconventional one, including a stint as a professional volleyball player. However, her fierce determination, strong work ethic and inherent artistic talent have made her a rising star in the industry, with her unique couture designs sold in high-end boutiques around the world.
She is a highly innovative fashion designer known for her unique, three-dimensional and hand-painted couture garments. In 1996, Savahl pioneered the technique of strategically hand-painting artwork directly onto garments to create textures and optical illusions that manipulate the body shape.
Her collections feature avant-garde stretch mesh and resin technologies designed for comfort and movement, along with the signature 3D painting technique that transforms each piece into a wearable work of art.
Another designer making waves at this year’s Miami Swim Week is the South-American-based swimwear brand Amarotto. Each Amarotto creation is produced in Colombia using traditional artisan techniques like macrame and crochet, blending time-honored craftsmanship with a modern, luxurious aesthetic.
