(The awards, bestowed by the Art Directors Guild, will be presented this year at a ceremony on February 10 at Ovation Hollywood’s Ray Dolby Ballroom. Since the inaugural awards ceremony in 1996, it has often been observed that a film winning in one of the main competitive categories (Fantasy, Period, and Contemporary Feature) frequently goes on to win an Oscar later.
Among the films nominated for this year’s Art Directors Guild awards are, for example, “Killers of the Flower Moon” (Martin Scorsese), “Oppenheimer” (Christopher Nolan), “Barbie” (Greta Gerwig) and “Poor Things” (Yorgos Lanthimos).
