Jo Koy Opens Up About His Golden Globes Hosting Experience

In a candid reflection, Jo Koy delved into his recent experience as the Golden Globes host.

Despite having a mere 10 days to prepare, Jo Koy embraced the daunting task, assembling a writing team just eight days before the show and crafting the monologue a day prior. “I think I did well given the circumstances,” he said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

While he proudly stands as the first Asian solo host in the award show’s 81-year history, the night wasn’t without its hiccups. A joke aimed at the NFL, involving Taylor Swift, misfired, sparking controversy. “I didn’t understand the Taylor Swift tiff,” Koy explained. “Mind you, that one was just getting rewritten 50 million times, never ran it through, all the way up until we had to walk out.” Additionally, the host expressed his admiration for Swift’s work, mentioning that he had even purchased tickets for his nieces to attend one of her concerts.

Taylor Swift takes a sip of her drink after Jo Koy's joke about her at the GoldenGlobes. "The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift."
