In her Instagram post, Amandla Stenberg reminisced about filming the action thriller “Colombiana” (2011). At just 12 years old*, Stenberg portrayed the younger version of the film’s protagonist, Cataleya Restrepo (played as an adult by Zoe Saldana). The film, co-written and produced by Luc Besson and directed by Olivier Megaton, depicted Cataleya’s journey for revenge after her family is murdered by a drug lord.
Despite mixed reviews, the film was notable for its dynamic action sequences and strong performances, particularly by Saldana. Stenberg’s post reflects on her beginnings in film. She has also starred in “The Hunger Games” (2012), and lent her voice to films like “Rio 2” (2014) and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” (2023).
