In Plains, Georgia, stands a monument called the Jimmy Carter Peanut Statue. It was erected in 1976 to support Jimmy Carter in the presidential election. The monument references Carter's past involvement in peanut farming. The 13-foot tall monument is the second tallest peanut statue in the world (the largest one is located in Ashburn, Georgia). Jimmy Carter reportedly did not like the monument, which had been repaired after a car accident.
