Jazz sensation Samara Joy is setting the stage for her new album Portrait, slated for release this fall. Leading the charge is her single You Stepped Out Of A Dream, which dropped with a visual accompaniment showcasing the song’s recording. This track revives an eight-decade-old classic, previously interpreted by icons like Nat King Cole and Shirley Horn, and infuses it with a fresh swing thanks to an adept ensemble led by arranger and horn player Jason Charos.
Samara’s single paints a lyrical portrait of fantastical love materializing into reality, backed by a dynamic team including saxophonists David Mason and Kendrick McCallister, trombonist Donavan Austin, bassist Felix Moseholm, drummer Evan Sherman, and pianist Connor Rohrer. The single is just a taste of what to expect from Portrait, which will feature eight tracks:
- You Stepped Out Of A Dream
- Reincarnation Of A Lovebird
- Autumn Nocturne
- Peace of Mind / Dreams Come True
- A Fool In Love (Is Called A Clown)
- No More Blues
- Now And Then (In Remembrance Of…)
- Day By Day
